Windsor-Essex Homeschool Debate Team

"Debate and public speaking are of extraordinary value to students in high school. Participation in debating can boost self-confidence, accelerate learning across the curriculum, and facilitate great improvement in critical thinking and oral communication skills."

The Windsor-Essex Homeschool Debate Team starts on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the home of Jill Huschilt, 13660 Tecumseh Rd E in Tecumseh.Weekly meetings follow every Tuesday at the same time. Regular meetings continue to the end of April. A tentative schedule/syllabus for the beginning meetings will be handed out on Sept. 15.

Homeschooled high school students are invited to join us for another year of debate excitement and challenge. Commitment is required! Debate students are expected to complete weekly homework assignments and to participate in both high school debate competitions hosted by the University of Windsor Odette School of Business.

On the first day of class, each student will receive a debate booklet. Please register by Sept. 8 so that I know how many booklets to prepare.

Required materials are:

  • - $12 per student - which pays for the cost of the booklet (to be collected on Sept. 15)
  • - Black, three-ring notebook complete with paper
  • - Pens for taking notes
